Am I the only one who finds it amusing that despite winning by 8 goals today Tottenhams goal difference is still 7 worse than Arsenals? Speaking of which Im actually finding it hard to laugh at Wigan, I mean 6-1 and Id be laughing at Wigan fans as much as anyone (um sorry Rooty :P) but 9-1's just embarassing. Especially if you think that Derby, in our 11 point season, never lost that badly and the fact that theres no way Wigans goal should have been allowed as it was a blatant handball so it should have been 9-0 which would equal the record defeat in the premiership. On a related note Id like to point out that I predicted Tom Huddlestone would play for England the first time I saw him play for Derby at 16 and told my brother over the summer that I reckoned he had a good chance of making the world cup squad next year. Wish Id put a bet on one of those two things before he got called up to the england squad the other week, Id have made a fortune if Id done it after that first game for Derby ah well. Then again I wasnt actually old enough to bet at that point so there we go :P.

Anyway I start my second week of work tomorrow which Im almost looking forward to strangely. Not particularly cos I enjoy work just because it gives me something to do and a bit of money. Its not particularly interesting work, but its involves just enough effort to not be completely boring if that makes sense. The best thing about work though is it makes the weekends mean something again. When all youre doing every day is sitting around playing games and watching tv all day it makes it kind of dull and the weekends pretty meaningless as every day is the same. Now though I can actually look forward to sitting around playing games and watching tv all day at the weekend which is nice. Actually its probably my favourite part about having a job, which is weird as its not really anything to do with the job itself :P. Well its my favourite part except for the money obv.

Speaking of games I bought Race Driver: GRID yesterday which is a great game. Definitely the best racing game Ive played for ages, since GTR probably. I also watched 12 Monkeys earlier which was an awesome film. It was the best film Id seen since... well since I watched Frost/Nixon yesterday :P. I'm trying to watch all of Terry Gilliams films at the moment (hence watching 12 Monkeys) as a movie review thing I listen to every week keeps going on about how good most of them are. I've only managed to get through one so far but then I'm also trying to get through lots of films with Michael Sheen (hence Frost/Nixon :P) and Sam Rockwell in who are both great actors. Frost/Nixon was one of the best films Ive ever seen Id say. I mean I have a pretty short attention span really and I feel slightly bored at some point in almost every film I watch but with Frost/Nixon I was not bored at any point in the whole two hours. Then again maybe my concentration is just getting better cos I could say the same about Moon when I saw that the other week because that was an amazing film as well, the best sci-fi film Id seen in years Id say. If you hadn't guessed Im trying to watch a load of films at the moment that I missed when they were out either through not being born or not paying attention, I have a huge list of them and everything. Next on the list is The Exorcist which Im downloading now, apparantly its going to take another year to download though so Im not too hopeful of watching it anytime soon :P.

Okay so Im currently quite annoyed, well more disappointed than annoyed I guess. Anyway I went to a gig tonight which was Gomez with Frightened Rabbit supporting. Unfortunately Frightened Rabbit couldnt make it cos there car had broken down or something and as Id gone more to see them than Gomez it was more than a little annoying. Still the fact that the support act who replaced them, the treehorns, were pretty good and Gomez were awesome, they sound so much better live than on any of their albums. How we operate at the end was fantastic, one of the best songs Ive heard at a gig, and I dont even like that song all that much on the album :P. Also when one of the singers went missing for the first half of Ruff Stuff it was pretty hilarious.

Other than this I've pretty much spent my time since my last post listening to Fighting Talk and playing the new Football Manager. I've managed to do 6 whole seasons in just over 2 weeks in the new football manager, which is pretty embarassing now I think about it. Actually wait I did a season in another game so its technically 7 seasons whoops. Still I won the premiership as Derby which I was far too happy about :P, though I immediately left Derby after doing that and won the champions league with Man Utd the next year. Also speaking of Fighting Talk, you know you've been listening to it too much when you make a comment like "gymnastics isn't a sport, its a masturbation tool for paedophiles." which I did last night in the pub. Everyone should listen to this episode: http://www.anton.co.uk/fighting/2009-01-10_Murray_Brady,Rawling,Watt,Watson.mp3 though for two reasons: firstly it mentions Derby beating Man Utd last year and is also completely insane and hilarious.

Its probably a good thing that my time playing football manager and listening to Fighting talk is about to be cut down quite a lot though as I actually have a job now. Its only for a month with crappy hours (5pm-10pm), and is only doing data entry which is going to be very boring but at least its something.

Why am I here?
I'm here because I've got no fucking choice

So as everyone seems to be deserting livejournal at the moment I thought Id try and continue mine and fly the flag for the general crapness of it. Ill probably just do one blog then forget for months again but ah well. Anyway I got my results of my resit back today and Ive actually managed to pass it :D. I say I got the result back I havent actually got my mark or anything I just got an email saying that Id been awarded a third-class honours degree which means I must have passed it. Obviously a third isnt exactly what I was aiming for when I started uni but as I hated my course by the end and very nearly failed completely Im very happy with it now.

So this is permanence, love's shattered pride.
What once was innocence, turned on its side.
A cloud hangs over me, marks every move,
Deep in the memory, of what once was love.

I went to Burton the other day and despite my complete lack of money I ended up buying 4 films in the 4 for £20 deal. Probably a bad idea as I really should be spending my money on things I actually need but there we go. Anyway Ive watched 2 so far, Son of Rambow and Control. Son of Rambow was pretty good, bit different to my usual sort of film but it was still good. Its probably the only film Ive seen that Ive been able to forgive a really naff cheesey ending. Control was a really good film, though incredibly depressing. I guess the depressingness wasnt all that surprising as its a biopic of Ian Curtis from Joy Division who commited suicide when he was 23. I was a bit surprised by it still though as Im normally a bit sceptical about this sort of film. I always wonder how anyone can get across the genius of a guy like Ian Curtis as well as all his other problems. But yeah it was very good and Im now completely obsessed with Joy Division again. I listened to Closer straight after watching the film and Id almost forgot just how fantastic it is. I have to say its probably in my top 10 albums of all time now.

Existence well what does it matter?
I exist on the best terms I can.
The past is now part of my future,
The present is well out of hand.
The present is well out of hand.

I finally got around to playing Call of Duty 4 the other day as well which is awesome. Definitely one of the best games Ive played for a while. The setpieces in it are absolutely fantastic especially the attack on the missle silo at the end which is just awesome. I have to say I do like how all the British characters are portrayed as raging psychopaths though, its pretty hilarious. Though tbh they are all portrayed as competent raging psychopaths which is more than you can say for the American characters who are portrayed as gung-ho morons who shout things like "Never leave a man behind!" and then get shot. And then they end up getting blown up by a nuke. Which is actually kind of cool, I mean not many games actually kill you off permanently in them. Then again the bit where youve just been nuked and you have to crawl around slowly dying whilst kind of cool isnt exactly subtle in putting across a "war is bad" message. Though tbf its more than most games attempt so I wont complain too much about the lack of subtlety.

But if you could just see the beauty
These things I could never describe
These pleasures a wayward distraction
This is my one broken prize

Right I'm bored so time for a good old fashioned Star Wars rant I think. I've been watching the Clone Wars tv series and well its not been terrible. Its not been particularly good either though and its kind of making me wonder why George Lucas still bothers. Dont get me wrong I love the original films, hell I even like some bits of the prequel trilogy even if overall they were pretty bad (except maybe the third one which was probably just about good). The thing is there are so many good things in the Star Wars universe, I mean a lot, maybe even most, of the books, games and comics are really good. Its just making me wonder why when they have people who can still make good stories in the star wars universe we're still forced to sit through stuff that the best thing you can say about it is, its not terrible. I mean surely its time that he let someone else sort out the tv series and moved on to rolling in his money or something. My vote would be for the guys who made BSG to make a Star Wars tv series but thats probably not that likely. Also Id like to point out that I have only seen the first 7 episodes so it might get a hell of a lot better later on in the series, then again the next episode is called "Bombad Jedi" so I doubt it.

Also another random point, episodes 5 was the best so far by a long way and it kind of proves yet again that the clones are far more interesting characters than the Old Republic Jedi.

Along the avenue of hope
The footsteps falter, the fingers grope
and days, stretch out, beneath the sun
No-one's born, and no-one dies, no-one loves, so no-one cries
and we wait to see just what we will become

Don't let me falter, don't let me ride
Don't let the earth in me subside
Let me see just who I will become

You're like the clouds in my home town
You just grow fat and hang around
and you're days stretch out beneath the sun

and you don't live, you don't die, you don't love so you don't cry
and we wait, to see just what we will become

Don't let me borrow, don't let me bring
Don't let me wallow, don't make me sing
Let me see just who I will become

Don't let me falter, don't let me hide
Don't let someone else decide
Just who or what I will become

Don't make me borrow, don't make me bring
Don't let them wallow, don't let them sing
Let them stretch out, beneath the sun

Since the BSG finale I've become incredibly obsessed with All Along the Watchtower. As shown by it being both first and second in my top 25 list on itunes (http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/oo27/peedy1138/top25.jpg). Speaking of the BSG finale it was really fantastic, which is not much of a surprise to be fair its been fantastic all the way through. I'm a bit disappointed that its over as I think its been the best show on TV the last few years but I'm glad they didn't drag it out until it became crap.

Back home tomorrow, I have to wait for someone to pick me up. Stupid car deciding to die completely. Ah well, hopefully I'll have a new one soon.

Frightened Rabbit are so awesome. I can't believe I didn't realise this earlier seeing as how I've had their albums for ages. I've listened to The Midnight Organ Fight so many times over the last few weeks, and am now in fact. At a volume that my neighbour must love me for, whoops.

So nothing all that interesting has happened to me since my last proper blog. Well except from crashing my car a little. Tbh that wasn't that interesting really as it was a fairly pathetic crash and didn't do much damage. The only part of the car that was damaged was the wheel and that was fairly easy to replace so yeah not that exciting.

Oh yeah its my birthday tomorrow as well, yay. Yes I do still get unreasonably excited about birthdays, though at least I don't spend about a month counting down to it like I used to.

So finally gotten around to posting here again. Ive been at uni since saturday and its been good so far. I went home for a bit yesterday and stayed there overnight which wasnt as good as being at uni but still. It was really weird being in my room at home again cos half the stuff was missing and the cleaner had tidied up the stuff that was still there so I was like wtf when I first got there. I've been watching Lost season 1 again (thanks for the DVDs Stoo) and I'd almost forgotten how good it is. It really is very good I think it might still be the best series so far cos the later series are very good but I dont think theyve really matched the first series. I also read Order 66 which is very good. I know there have like been a lot of complaints about the spoilers especially from like theforce.net forums but the book is very good and the sort of big spoiler whilst it still sounds stupid isnt that stupid in the book. Actually its not that stupid a thing anyway cos its totally in character anyway.

Timetable of Doom (um though not cos I like my new timetable) )

Wow its been a long time since I last posted here but well I said I would start again though that was like weeks ago now but still. Speaking of which the convo where I said that was awesome it was like the best bits of uni only without being drunk. Um its kind of sad that my favourite parts of uni are staying up till ridiculously late talking on msn whilst drunk but still. Oh speaking of msn Bob you are now officially awesome for the best start to an msn group convo ever:

No one told me we were going to fight Doom! I want my lawyer! I want my mummy! I want my lawyer's mummy! says:
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

No one told me we were going to fight Doom! I want my lawyer! I want my mummy! I want my lawyer's mummy! has left the conversation.

Seriously it made me laugh so much I actually spilt my cup of tea down me. So I guess in theory I should say whats happened since I last posted but since thats over a year ago now I cant be bothered so yeah basically just thought I'd start blogging again and well I'm going to start from now I mean I'll probably give up like after this post but still.

Damn you The Aliens. I was supposed to going to a gig tonight (to see The Aliens), but one of thems hurt his back and anothers broke his shoulder, so theyve had to cancel it. Which is very annoying especially as theyve rescheduled the gig for November (the day before my birthday actually, which i suppose makes it a little better). Speaking of gigs I may have to get tickets for 65dos in Nottingham on the 13th May.

Its been about five months since my last proper post(the last 2 dont really count as they were just a link and a video), and the only vaguely interesting thing thats happened is that I passed my driving test(finally).

I've recently become quite obsessed with iLiKETRAiNS(hence the posting of the video). They're awesome and have a great name. I can't wait for their full album later this year (Progress Reform was good but not long enough), i think im looking forward to it more than any other album this year, except the new Radiohead one. I really want to go their gig on the 28th March cos Troubles (band made up of ex-HotS members) are supporting but unfortunately its in Leeds and i really can't be arsed to drive all the way to Leeds to see a gig.

I finished reading Exile today and its another good book. I dont think its as good as the second half of Betrayal or Bloodlines but its probably better than Tempest. I'm finally starting to dislike Jacen. In the first three books of the series i liked that he was becoming a sith for selfless reasons, but in Exile that seems to have changed.

Easter holidays start tommorow, yay. I have no work/revision to do at all so i have 3 and a half weeks at home in which i have no work to do, excellent.

Wow, I've actually managed to force myself to post on here again. It's only taken over two months, which for someone as lazy as me is actually not that long. I actually have a lot to post about, I'm not actually going to post most of it however as most of it happened at the end of the summer holidays, which whilst only being a few weeks ago seem like ages ago and I can't really remember all the specific details.

So I'm at university and have been for just over two weeks now and its pretty good here. The first week was kinda of boring at times, during the day when theres nothing to day. Especially after my computers power supply blew on the second morning and my TV aerial was utter crap and wouldn't get any signal. My computer didn't get fixed till wednesday of the next week so in the meantime i was given one of our old computers too use. This computer made me think something i never thought i would. I fucking hate computers. Especially old pieces of crap still running windows 98 which take about half hour to load and then won't actually run anything i want it to run. Anyway eventually i got my good computer back which is much better apart from its got a virus on it.

Still despite all the computer troubles the first week was pretty good. My flatmates all seem nice and the room itself is pretty good although i need some posters or something cos its kinda boring at the moment. I even went out a couple of times during the week even though i dont really like the whole partys with people i dont know in a place which stinks of booze and plays a load of crap music that i hate. Ive also been taught a couple of drinking games which ill have to try and teach everyone at christmans or something. Ive also discovered White Lightning which is an unbeliveably awesome drink. It tastes a bit like cider but get you drunk a hell of a lot quicker. I had two glasses of the stuff and the room was spinning. I mean you have to take into account im a lightweight but to be drunk after two glasses is still impressive.

Last week i started the course itself and was amazed to find i still remembered most of the stuff from the last years. It's been pretty boring at the moment as its mainly been introductions and revision but hopefully it should get more interesting later. If the algebra lectures dont improve im going to be seriously pissed as the first lecture was about the differences between odd and even numbers.

I think thats pretty much everything i had to post about. I've probably forgotten something but it was probably nothing important (not that anything i have posted about is particularly important)

Oh i remember something i was going to post, ive decided (quite stupidly) that im going to try nanowrimo again this year, ill probably fail again but i might as well try itll give me something to do between lectures.

Thats definately all i was going to post, i think. No wait there was something else. Hope of the States split up, damn them. Actually damn the people that were going to buy either of their albums(especially The Lost Riots) and didnt.

Also im going home next weekend, yay.

If there's a God, let him rain down on us
Let the fires burn till the cities fall
Go be with your family and friends
Hand in hand when it all ends
Making peace with everyone you know
Forget it all just let it go
These ain't the last days at all
But I'm trying to send out a call
Everyone together can save the world when it falls

I don't even remember how it was
Before everything was lost
I try to think of how it used to be
But this world has stole my memory

These ain't the last days at all
But I'm trying to send out a call
Everyone together can save the world when it falls

These ain't the last days at all
But I'm trying to send out a call
Everyone together can save the world when it falls

are we ever anything except
everything we never wanted to be
There is no one left to pray for us
are we ever anything except
everything we never wanted to be
There is no one left to pray for us

Awesome Song
